Weekend Cookbook Challenge #11 - "Cherry me" Cupcakes
>> Thursday, November 30, 2006
Cherry & Chocolate….
This combination for me is deadly seductive. Dream of the taste of a Black Forest Cake – don’t you agree that cherry and chocolate are for each other? :P
Back to the cupcakes, they turn out as good as Nigella promised – darkly dense and wickedly delicious. I only make two modifications from the original recipe. Firstly, I reduce the sugar content a little. And secondly, I use fresh cherries to decorate the cupcakes – why not when cherries are abundantly available at the moment in
So here they are, my Chocolate Cherry Cupcakes. I wish you all Happy Holidays! Enjoy yourself and do take care!
The recipe is available at Nigella’s website so I don’t bother to type it out. Click here for the recipe.
This entry is for Weekend Cookbook Challenge #11, which theme is Party Food. The event is hosted by Sara of I love to cook (what a beautiful blog name!).

these looks so awesome. can you relocate to Singapore instead. hehehee.
Those turned out just perfect!
I love chocolate and cherries together, I recently made some choc-cherry brownies that were just sinfully good.
Soo jealous not only because you can bake chocolate-cherry cup cakes but also have fresh cherries!
second to burcu... envy of you getting fresh cherries. Your cupcakes are absolutely adorable!
Sara, thanks for the event!
Edith, hehehe, I may go to Singapore next year. Will order some cupcakes from u!
Brylinn, cherry and chocolate are just so perfect together!
Burcu & Gattina: yes, I'm enjoying the cherry season now! ;)
Hey Anh, could you tell me where you bought the jam? I tried making these a few months ago (and blogged about it here) and I had trouble finding a good cherry jam that had a bit of sourness with the sweet. I *love* the ganache and your cupcakes are super-cute. :-)
Cindy,
I bought the jam from a shop called German Butcher(!) on Portman St in Oakleigh. It is very close to Oakleigh station and the famous Freek Cafe'.
Let me have a look at the address tomorrow and post it here.
Cheers!
These look simply awesome! Had wanted to make so much that I went hunting for a good cherry jam yesterday but in vain *so sad*.. will keep hunting again *wish me luck*
Drool!!! They do look awesome. Like you, I'd rather not fuss over dessert - they just get gobbled up so quickly. These sound so simple and look simply delicious.
Thanks for sharing.
Cindy,
I have confirmed the adress of the shop as follow:
19 Portman Street. Oakleigh. VIC 3166
HTH.
